Mistakes That Sellers Make (and how to fix them…)

July 31st, 2012 · No Comments

If you’re thinking of putting your home on the market, there are several common seller pitfalls that you need to steer clear of. The first is pricing your home too high. No matter what you think your house is worth, you need to remember that you are emotionally attached to it in a way that a buyer won’t be. There are many ways to research home values, but remember your home is only worth what a buyer is willing to pay.

Spotlight on GreenMan Juice Bar & Bistro

July 28th, 2012 · No Comments

Green Man Juice & Bistro is the only restaurant in Rehoboth Beach to offer a full-service juice and smoothie bar. The menu at GreenMan focuses on whole foods and is especially appealing to vegans and vegetarians, although there are plenty of delicious options for any diet! GreenMan is an especially appealing option for breakfast or brunch, which is served until noon daily. Homemade waffles with whipped cream and berries sound delicious to me, or better yet… crème brulee French toast… yum, yum!

Three Suggestions For Staging Your Home Yourself

July 26th, 2012 · No Comments

If you’re thinking of selling your home, or if your home has been on the market for awhile and is not selling you might want to consider staging it. Staging a home is not just about cleaning. It’s arranging furniture and accessories in a way that offers the illusion that your house is larger, cleaner, warmer, and more inviting that it might be. A lot of people think that it isn’t worth their time or effort to stage their home, but trust me, it really is. Recently, a friend of mine moved half-way across the country. Their home was for sale for months with plenty of interest but no offers. It was on the market for so long that my friend’s husband had to move without her and their kids to start his new job. Finally, they had a professional come in to stage their home. The very next person to see the home bought it… within a week they were under contract!

Buyers Are Interested in Foreclosures More Than Ever

July 24th, 2012 · No Comments

In 2009, a survey done by realtor.com showed that only twenty-five percent of potential buyers were interested in foreclosed homes. An updated survey, done this year shows that the number has jumped by forty percent, and that nearly 65% of buyers in the current market would be willing to consider a foreclosed property. In addition, the survey showed that most of the people (over 93%) considering a purchase that had been through the process of foreclosure would be purchasing the home as their main residence as opposed to an investment property.

Tips for First Time Homebuyers

July 23rd, 2012 · No Comments

You’ve probably heard that there’s never been a better time to buy real estate, and that may be true, but if you’re a first-time home buyer buying a home may not be as easy as it once was. If you’re considering purchasing your first home you should check your credit score several months before you apply for a mortgage. By doing so, you will have time to address and attempt to correct any issues that might arise. You also need to start saving now. It’s best to put down at least twenty percent. If you don’t think you can swing 20%, you should do research into loan programs that will allow you to put down less. A great way to boost your savings is to make a budget, get a notebook, and write down where every penny you spend is going. By cutting back your excess spending you can up your down payment. When you’re ready to get serious about looking at homes be sure to get pre-approved for a mortgage. In addition to all the financial stuff to prepare, be sure to envision the home you dream of. You should make a list of your must haves (as well as your can’t stands!) and figure out what you are willing to compromise on and what you’re not.

Spotlight on Taste of Italy in Rehoboth Beach & Lewes

July 21st, 2012 · No Comments

Yesterday I suggested 5 mid-priced restaurants to try in Rehoboth. Today I want to turn the spotlight on a sixth. Touch of Italy offers specialty cheeses, meats, pasta, and pastries all made fresh. Their hero sandwiches are made to order and get rave reviews. In several places that I checked, Touch of Italy was the highest rated restaurant in Rehoboth Beach and if you’ve ever ordered one of their sandwiches, it’s easy to see why. The Rehoboth location (33A Baltimore Ave.) specializes in carry-out orders, but if you prefer table service you can try their Lewes location (101 2nd Street). Next time you’re in the mood for a delicious sandwich, be sure to check them out!
