I admire greatness.

Greatness, when I see or experience it – inspires me.  Delaware has all the ingredients to accomplish greatness.  We have a world class business community, cutting edge universities and talented, hard-working elected and cabinet officials.  If we all work together for a common purpose, with no selfish or hidden agendas, we can set a much needed example for the entire country.  Are we doing that now?  I don’t think so, be we can and should.  I challenge us…..let’s all pull together.  We need a leaner and more cost effective state government, and a much broader source of career employment for our aspiring homegrown kids.  Are we all ready  -  all facets of our state?  Let’s inspire and let’s experience greatness.  Our citizenry will appreciate and embrace it, and our kids and grandchildren will all benefit and reap the rewards.

For me, Saturday mornings in Lewes, Delaware mean off to the, just awarded, (and deservedly so) “The Best Farmers Market in Americas”.  Although admittedly not a morning person, I awake early with great anticipation on Saturdays.  First, it’s down the Lewes Canal to “Cafe Azafran”, a quaint little coffe shop for my coffee to go.  Next, it’s straight down Historic Second Street to the Market, which is held in the Ship Builder’s Village area of old Lewes.  I arrive in time for a little socializing and politicing before selecting my Saturday night’s gourmet menu.  My menu changes each week as new and different produce and seafood come into season.  Additional selections always include fresh baked breads, home made pastries, cheeses, and herbs to compliment my selections.  Multiple bags in hand, and in need of my second cup of coffee, I head back down the canal to my home in Wolfe Runne.

How blessed am I to live in Lewes, Delaware!!

Lewes, Delaware Realtor goes White Water Tubing!!

I had the best adventure this past weekend!!  My daughter coordinated a white water tubing trip with some co-workers and church friends, and she invited me to join in the fun.   There is a place in Harper’s Ferry, WV called River Riders.  You can choose from white water tubing, flat water tubing or white water rafting.  Our group chose white water tubing.  It was awesome!!!  You go through the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers on a 3.5 mile trip through the rapids.  The tubes are so comfortable, and the water felt great!!  We navigated through these gigantic boulders in the river and had a great time moving through the rapids.  My daughter and I found this place where there was a very small waterfall through a couple of boulders.  When we went down it the first time, I flipped out of my tube.  It was pretty sweet!!  So, we decided to to it again.  What fun!!  So, if you are looking for adventure on the water, check out the water activities that River Riders offers.  You will be glad you did!!   Author Connie Cooper

My husband and I live in Lewes, Delaware, and we are always looking for new places to dine.  Lewes has had many additions to it’s fabulous restaurants over the past couple of years, and we have tried them all.  However, last night we decided to hang out with the tourists in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.  We started off by visiting our favorite bartender, David Engel, at Espuma.  We enjoyed a nice cocktail while catching up on things with David.  He is a very interesting guy to talk with.  He has been bar tending in the Rehoboth Beach area for many years.  We have followed David from his bar tending years at La-La Land, Nage, and now at Espuma.  He is a true artist at “mixology”!  However, he is better known for his Leopard hair style (Pictured above from recent News Journal article).  It’s pretty cool looking.  After our visit with David, we decided to try a new restaurant in Rehoboth.  We walked to Rehoboth Avenue and found the restaurant, Blue (not to be confused with Blue Moon on Baltimore Ave).  We enjoyed a fabulous seafood dinner as well as a wonderful bottle of wine.  The food and service were excellent, and we had an outdoor table that was perfect for people watching.  We would highly recommend Blue to anyone looking for contemporary seafood.  Check out their website:  www.bluerehoboth.com.

LEWES, DELAWARE PROPERTY

This past weekend, I had an amazing experience!!  My neighbor and I took our grandchildren on a pirate expedition in Lewes, Delaware.  What an adventure it was.  The kids’ experience began by getting dressed in pirate costumes complete with pirate vests, an eye patch, a pirate earring, tattoos, face paint, an official pirate bracelet and swords to ward off the bad pirates.  Following the costume, the mini pirates were led to take the pirate pledge before boarding the pirate ship, the “Sea Gypsy V”.   Once dressed and pledging to be good “pirates”, we boarded the ship to look for the buried treasure.  We were warned that we may have to fight off bad pirates that would be trying to steal our treasure.  On the voyage, the little pirates learned how to read a treasure map and how to speak like a pirate – “ahoy Matey”, “ARGH!”, etc.  While looking for the sunken treasure, we encountered a bad pirate.   A battle at sea took place between the bad pirate and the little pirates!!  The good pirates managed to fight off the bad pirate and locate the buried treasure.  After the treasure chest was hoisted aboard, the little pirates were rewarded with valuable trinkets!  If you are looking for the swashbuckling adventure of a lifetime, I highly recommend you book  an expedition aboard the “Sea Gypsy V” in Lewes, Delaware.  Check out their website at www.piratesoflewesexpeditions.com

If you want a bargain, sell yourself and your offer – make a convincing case that you are likely and able to close the deal! Make sure your agent presents a polished, computer-prepared offer (if that’s the standard in your area) – this demonstrates that they have the professionalism and up-to-date market knowledge it takes to get a sale closed these days. Make sure the offer package presented to the seller includes a polished, thorough loan approval letter, which confirms that your credit, employment, income and down payment funds have all been verified and approved for a home loan.

Also, make sure that your agent and loan broker emphasize features of your qualifications and your offer that render it more likely than average to close. Some sellers frown on FHA and VA loans, because they have a reputation of being tough to close. If you are approved for a conventional (i.e., non FHA) loan, your offer should say that. If you have a large down payment, or are paying cash, your offer and your agent should bring that to the listing agent’s attention, too.
